Foods & Body Parts-1

According to Ayurveda, whatever present in the universe(nature) is also present in the individual body. The human body is the universe in miniature. Since the nature is based on Panchmahabhootas [Prithvi (Earth), Aap (Water), Tej ( Fire ), Vayu ( Air ) and Aakash ( Space ) ], the body should also be based on them. And hence the similarity.

 
Here are the list of foods that resemble the body parts that they help –

1.CARROT & EYEBALL

Sliced carrot resembles the eyeball. Carrots are high in vitamin-A, a nutrient essential for good vision. Beta carotene in carrot protects the cells of the eyes from free radical damage may be due to pollution, exposure to bright sun etc.

 
2.TOMATO & HEART

Tomato has 4 chambers just like the heart. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, lowers cholesterol and neutralizes free radicals.

 
3.ORANGE & BREAST

Orange looks like mammary glands of female. Orange is rich source of vitamin-C. It reduces the risk of breast cancer. Citrus flavonoids are effective inhibitors of human breast cancer cell proliferation.

 
4.ONION & SKIN

Onion is made up of many layers just like human skin. Onion extract is a common ingredient in skin care products. It is good for treating all types of scars (including post operative scars).

 
5.SWEET POTATO & PANCREAS

Sweet potato looks like human pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetes. It is good food for people with pancreatitis and it reduces the risk of pancreatic cancer too.

 
6.WALNUT  & BRAIN

Walnut looks a lot like a human brain. This excellent brain food has proteins, omega-3,omega-6 fatty acids, vitamin-E and vitamin-B6. Therefore it nourishes the entire nervous system.

 
7.OLIVES & OVARIES

Olives and ovaries look same. It is the good source of antioxidants, vitamin-E, monounsaturated fats, iron and fiber. It improves the ovarian function.
